FAQs

What does 'cruelty-free' mean?

The term 'cruelty-free' means that neither a product not its ingredients have been tested on animals. For more information, click here.

How do you check that the products sold on your site are cruelty-free?

Our founder personally researches every company before we work with them, and each and every business that appears on Lovethical has signed our cruelty-free declaration form, which states that:

1.     They do not conduct animal testing on any of their finished products or ingredients at any stage of production, and they have a fixed cut-off date.

2.     They do not use any products or ingredients from any suppliers who test on animals.

3.     They do not commission or permit any other companies or third parties to test on animals on their behalf.

4.     They do not allow products or ingredients to be tested on animals when required by law (for example, they do not sell their products in parts of the world where cosmetic animal testing is required).

5.     They are not owned – neither partly nor fully - by a parent company that does not also adhere to these statements.

6.     They do not pay for animal testing data.

Are all the products you sell vegan?

Yes, every product is vegan.

Do you use plastic-free packaging?

Our packaging is totally plastic free. The only exception is if we are re-using some plastic packaging that we have received, as we'd rather reuse it than recycle it. Most of our suppliers are very conscious of their plastic use though, so it is rare that we receive plastic packaging in the first place.

Of course, not all of the products themselves are plastic-free, but we will only ever use plastic-free packaging to post your chosen products.

Why aren't all the companies accredited with official cruelty-free logos?

There are 3 official cruelty-free accreditations that companies can apply for (each of which have slight differences). However, just because a company is not officially accredited does not necessarily mean that it's not cruelty-free; some accreditations cost money - which may be difficult for smaller companies - and the process can be very lengthy. We always make it clear on each product page if the manufacturer is accredited with an official cruelty-free logo.
